Totally Bummed Out

I had plans. Great big fantastic plans. They included bowling and purchasing tobacco products in the great state of North Carolina. But alas they were ripped from me thanks to the FAA. Apparently they decided that there were just too many planes in the air and mine wasn’t going to go anywhere. Never mind that along with myself a hundred or so other people were suddenly at LGA for no apparent reason. There was a thunderstorm rolling in and no other available flights to Raleigh that night. Oh, they could get me to Philadelphia and then Raleigh the next day around 5pm. Somehow it just didn’t make sense to go for 25 hours. Seriously I couldn’t even have a beer with everyone I had promised in that time frame. Well, I might be able to, but it would hurt a whole hell of a lot.

So there I am at the airport with no place to go and all my plans in ruins. I called up some co-workers as we had talked about going to Ikea to get new office furniture one day and hey I now had the weekend. The Fabulous Pauline was having train issues and Cat was busy working–Boo. Hulk Heather offered watching bad television out in the Ridge. Tempting….tempting.

I phoned up Lori to see if she was at Kelly’s (home to people shitting on the floor) since that was relatively close and yes she was. She said, hang out I’ll come get you. Sweet no bus for me…just an hour wait. So I busied myself with reading whatever news was on the phone and talked to the ‘rents. Did you know it is legal to hunt bears in California? Anyway promptly at 7:30 (when I was suppose to take off) Lori arrived with meat on a stick, sticky buns, and lo mien. So tasty.

Today I’m debating what to do. Should I go check out the amtrak schedule? I hear there are good hot dogs in DC. I’ve never been to Philly. What to do, what to do?

Numbers Day

August 11th, 2008 by Kansas

So I have a death-wish.  Well, I do, but I happen to be referring to my continual attendance at the boxing class and my very own personal trainer.  Today at the personal trainer it was measuring day.  It’s been 7 sessions, 6 since we did the first measurements.  I was feeling good, all excited to see my progress.  Oh progress, you fickle fickle thing.

I have progressed.  I have.  I did not go backwards.  I just didn’t quite progress as much as I was hoping you know.  I’ve lost 10 pounds since 7/2 and 1.3% of my body fat.  That’s good.  I, of course was hoping for 15 lbs and 5% of body fat.  Now I’ve really got to start running else I’ll never be an olympic hopeful.
