Saturday is Absinthe Day

November 30th, 2007 by Kansas

Dexy’s is toting.  Saturday starts the din of absinthe at Dexy’s.   Yes real absinthe-wormwood and all.  The law has recently changed.  Who is rolling with the green fairy?

Now I’m really a Resident

November 28th, 2007 by Kansas

I got my NY driver’s license in the mail the other day.  It’s so strange.  The picture is probably the worst picture I’ve ever had-but it doesn’t matter because you can’t see if for all the security on the card.  Plus did you know that hair color and weight are not listed on the card.  Not at all.  I suppose the state of New York figured it will probably change so much that why bother listing.

Anger Management

November 26th, 2007 by Kansas

I got angry last night.  Yes angry.  The scary what the hell angry that everyone freaks out about angry.  I did not express how much I wanted to watch the KU-Arizona game at home.  When Mr. Steve invited his buddies over to watch the Patriots game and offered me picture in picture…well I lost it.

I returned to the apartment solely to change clothes (out of gym uniform gear).  Apparently my mood did not sit well with Mr. Steve and he did not appreciate my display of the great door slams of 108th street.

Things were discussed this evening (when I wasn’t totally shit-faced).  According to Mr. Steve (at least what I gathered) I need to work on how I deal with my anger.  I should set goals and work towards becoming a better person.  I attempted to express how this outlook on life goes against pretty much everything that I believe and by saying this (along with other things) it tells me that I am a failure of a person.  Oh and by the way he’s smarter than me (honestly who fucking isn’t?).

And to think I was more or less really happy.

Brian Stetzer is Enchanting

November 21st, 2007 by Kansas

Monday night was the premier of Enchanted.  Rock Fist Heather and I were running a little late because we had stopped for a slice.  Then these people just stopped right in front of me.  What the hell?  Stupid Brian Stetzer’s handlers.  The hair is real.  So one famous person sighting and then off to the red carpet.  Loverboy was there, so was Tim Robbins not to mention Bloomberg and Iger.

The movie was actually really good.  I promptly returned to the apartment and attempted to get all the rodents to clean the bathroom.  Tragically it didn’t work.  On the bright side the little gift bag we got did make me feel like a princess: a pretty pretty princess.

One Hungover Sunday

November 21st, 2007 by Kansas

Last Sunday I needed to stay on the couch for about 24 hours.  The hangover was just too much.  Too many beers & wee shots of something nasty the night before.  I couldn’t even order pizza, Boink Boy had to do that.  Roommate Jen just stayed drunk till 9pm, probably the better way to go.  Oops.

Boston AND Rhode Island all at the same time

November 21st, 2007 by Kansas

So Mr. Steve was headed home for dinner and to pick up a few things along with his car one whole weekend ago.  Roommate Jen got us invited, but then ended up having to back out to do something weird like, study.  So it ended up being just me and the Steve.  We missed the first bus, as to be expected so we took the Fung Wah.  Next to the departure point down in Chinatown there is a great hot dog place.  So tasty.

We got to Boston around 6 or so, then took a cab out to the suburbs to Steve’s Moms.  It was this great old house a lot like the ones in Old West Lawrence only with steam heat.  I had my first fondue dinner-no cheese.

The next day we headed to Providence to get his car, but it turns out that it’s in Pawtucket.  Yes that Pawtucket.  We got the car went into Providence.  He showed me around his old town and took me to his old watering hole.  It reminded me of a cross between JB Stouts & the shack down by Lake Iamonia.  It was very strange.  I’m glad I went; I have no desire to go back to KS and visit the locals at this point.

We drove back to NYC Sunday night and unloaded all the goods.  It turns out it was a good thing that Roommate Jen didn’t come with us, there was no room in the car.

My Nation’s Capital

November 21st, 2007 by Kansas

A couple of weeks ago I took the ever exciting train to my nation’s capital.  It had been about nine months (a full baby) since I had been.  This time I was there on business.  My business got me thrown out of a cafe & took me to a wax museum.  It was great.  More importantly though I got to catch up with one of my peeps from grad school.

My DoD friend met me after work and we promptly headed to Ben’sBill Cosby and no one else eats for free.  I know this because there was a sign.  I have to say that I had the best chili dog ever here.  If you are in DC you must stop by and get one.  Afterward we went to a bar and had a beer and caught up on the craziness that is life.

I headed out to my cheapy hotel and sacked out.  I had work to do the next day.  One evening of rest later I finished up my work around 2pm.  I then headed to the Spy Museum for well…Spys, but I passed the Cowgirl Creamery.  You know me and cheese-I HAD to go in.  Inside I found a good cheddar as well as a tasty jack, but perhaps more interesting I found a cheese from T-ville.  T-ville!  Well of course I got some of that as well.

I then wandered about the Mall and watched the sunset behind Mr. Lincoln’s memorial.  Overall it was a good day.  I got the train back to the city and made it back to the apartment by 1:45am.  Good times.
