Sunny, 70.  Time to hit the beer garden I say.

Walking Around the City

March 26th, 2007 by Kansas

Yesterday Construction Steve and I took a walk.  We saw part of this being filmed.  The most depressing fountain ever.  Slightly inappropriate public art.  And I got the East River on me.  Gross!  Will comment further later.

Oh and I believe Nice Jewish Boy tried to phone around 5:39am Sunday morning.

Nice Jewish Boy

March 23rd, 2007 by Kansas

I had the day off on Wednesday.  It was nice I lounged around and went out to the Red Lion around 3pm.  They have a quite lovely fish and chips and Boddington’s on tap.  It was a bit odd as everyone else there was British and watching cricket, but very enjoyable.

I then ventured off in search of other new exciting bars, but then realized that I was too far west to hit the places I had planned so I wimped out and went to d.b.a.  I had a white belgium ale and talked to Mr. Kaleb’s Creator.  I was feeling antsy.  I needed a little B-Side action.

When I got to B-Side there was no sign of Colorist Karen or Construction Steve and they were out of Lowenbrau.  Gutted!  So I had a Bud Light instead and bitched about it.  A couple of seats down was PhD Jen.  She was commenting on Labatt’s and the lack of it at the bar.  We got to talking and it came up that I was a librarian.  This caught the attention of a Nice Jewish Boy at the bar, because he was debating going to library school.

Nice Jewish Boy and I discussed it, or rather I said hell if you are going to get a worthless degree get one that is at least interesting to you.  After a couple of beers Nice Jewish Boy and I headed up the block to Mona’s for a stouter drink.  It got to be pumpkin time and I attempted to head uptown.  This got way-laid by Nice Jewish Boy who hailed a cab and we were off to Astoria.

It was quite exciting really: a new place, a new friend.  Whatever.  We fucked the bed 3 feet out of place, four times.  Such a Nice Jewish Boy.  Don’t worry, I was protected by NYC finest.

RATS!

March 23rd, 2007 by Kansas

Everyone knows there are rats in New York.  It’s just part of life.  The first rat I saw was in the subway station at Grand Central around 1am.  That seemed normal.  Last night on my way back down to the East Village I saw rats just running across the street.  That freaked me out a little bit.

Then this morning there were a couple of rats in the 1st Ave station (L train) just hanging out being rats.  So obviously spring is here and rats have come out to play just like everyone else.

Devil Drinks Vodka

March 20th, 2007 by Kansas

Most people have seen or at least heard about the Devil Wears Prada, film extraordinaire.  Well I have that job, except I don’t deal with the fashion industry.  No, it’s better.  I deal with movie & tv peoples.  Do you know how much I love that I talk to people from HBO?

I have pictures and whatnot to update, but no usb cable at work.  I even have a shot of the R2D2 mailbox in front of my building. Apparently they are to promote the new Star Wars stamps coming out later (I asked my local post office worker).

Oh and if you were wondering St. Patrick’s Day had a happy ending.  It included a penis and everything.

For the Love of Beer

March 17th, 2007 by Kansas

I spend way too much money last night.  How did that cost $100?  Seriously?  And was I really dancing at B-Side?  Wow St. Patrick’s weekend and a KU win will do strange things to a kid.  Strange.

Moving on Up

March 16th, 2007 by Kansas

One of my squats is on the east side, a deluxe apartment in the sky, but in reality…I tend to crash wherever is convenient. This evening I have partaken too much in alcohol and will be crashing at Construction Steve’s. If I’m lucky there will be a penis involved. We’ll see. Let you know in a couple of days.

Waking up in Brooklyn

March 15th, 2007 by Kansas

This morning I woke up in Brooklyn.  Brooklyn!  I mean, sure they make a mean lager, but seriously.  Then I remembered.  That’s right after O Hanlons Colorist Karen suggested we crash at hers.  I recall trying to pick up someone while waiting for the L train, but that didn’t work out.  Mainly because while I’m technically homeless, this guy lived with his folks (LOSER) and we just weren’t meant to be together.  Karen provided Construction Steve & I with pajamas and a bed.  It was super sweet and nice.  It was nice to wake up in pjs.

O Hanlons provided me with way too many beers (some of which were free for some reason) and in theory two potential dates–but I either came on too strong or not strong enough or perhaps because it was Wednesday….I don’t know.  I had Construction Steve play the gay friend bit and it still didn’t work.  St. Patrick’s should be highly entertaining.

Oh, side note: I’m totally the New York corespondent for Singles’ Health.  My jokes will get better I swear.

Saving it Daylight Style

March 11th, 2007 by Kansas

To mourn the loss of an hour of drinking time last night I went out and drank.  Luckily the places I ended up paid no heed to that silly 2 to 3am switch and I was able to get my drink on for a good 6 hours.

I headed into the city at 9 last night and met Carpenter Steve at B-Side around 10:30.  Commuting is a bitch!  5 or 6 Lowenbraus later and a Saeri added to the mix we headed to Mona’s for some pool.  I hung with Colorist Karen, ArtGuy, and Colorist Karen’s friend most of the night talking poo.  It was loads of fun.

However the walk back to Carpenter Steve’s after we returned to B-Side after Mona’s closed was a bit of a bitch.  He lives like an animal (according to the beer wench at CB Six–5th floor walk up).  Seriously that was a bunch of stairs.

This afternoons brunch was perfect, french toast and a bloody mary while sitting outside people watching.
