Instead of working at work I’m blogging. Why? Because I’m bored with this temp thing. People aren’t at their desks, they aren’t going to be. Sigh.
Anyway. Last week Saeri & I went to see Everclear. Even though Art had strep it was a good show. How can it not be when for the last song he pulls 80% of the girls from the audience to dance on stage and makes fun of them.
Thursday I got a job offer. Woot. In celebration I wandered into a bar called Reservoir. I had a few pints of Newcastle and got in a discussion about the greatness of America. Those are always interesting, especially when I’m talking to someone who has never lived anywhere other than the place they grew up in. Then Saeri texted so I headed up to Blacks to say hello.
At Blacks I had a few more drinks, mainly because I made other people purchase them and was in general a bit of an ass. I learned that for some reason you do not ask what people do. They won’t tell you. They won’t even say things like, “I’m in sales.” This is interesting. They will want to know all about your religious beliefs, politics, and money. How odd I say.
Sunday Saeri & I went to Comic-Con. I was not impressed. I guess I thought it would be better with more free stuff/less smelly dorks/better dressed smelly dorks. We took off after a couple of hours and went to Shady Jake’s. It was fun. The bartender was cool and hey, BBQ & Booze how can one go wrong with that? I even had a can of their Pork Slap Ale.
This week nothing that exciting going on. Went out last night in the East Village with Saeri. Hop Devil had tapped a new beer last week so I wanted to try that. I had the Kuhnhenn Dark Heathen Triple Bock. It was good-a bit on the sweet side and definitely strong, but good. I had the Pale Ale from Norway. That was awesome.
We then headed to B-Side. I had walked by this place with DoD Girl two weeks ago and decided that I wanted to go in. Everyone in the place has the “you-don’t-belong-here” look on their faces when we walk in, but within 15 minutes they realized that not only did we belong there we would probably out-drink everyone there. B-Side has the ultimate hipster special: Can of PBR & a shot of whiskey for $5.
At B-Side we made a new friend, Construction Steve. Construction Steve shares the good times had while playing pool and had heard of a bar up the road that had a table so we were off to Mona’s. Mona’s is good-all dark and Irish with a pool table in the back and a dog just hanging around. We had Saeri go beat whoever was playing so that we could get the table for a bit. We ended up playing for a couple of hours with Frank the 6 and then some random bartender. Frank the 6 offered his couch as a possible squat (because I’m always on the look-out) and told us of the greatness of the NY bus system (which we still didn’t use).
We took off around 3am to get some Cosmic Cantina–thank goodness for Google Maps Mobile because we couldn’t remember where it was. When we got there the quesadillas were just as good as to be expected. Afterwards we headed down to the subway to wait for the next train. And wait we did. Apparently Saeri & I were a wee bit loud and possibly threatening in our actions as we made a hipster nervous and he moved away. HA!
Next to last day at the temp job so I when I flat out told my “superviser” that I had to go to Maccers to cure my hangover he gave me the quickest route. It’s all good.
