I’ve always been a fan of the P.S.A. You know the more you know the further you’ll go. This week has been the week of P.S.A. direct from me to you.
PSA: Chairlift just isn’t that great. They have that one song, but seriously I fell asleep during their set.
PSA: Desktop publishing has led to a change in grammar rules. Single spaces after punctuation marks are now acceptable. (Personally I find it offensive, but it is the word on the street.)
PSA: Toilet paper with aloe is a lot like wiping with soggy toilet paper.
PSA: Hugh Jackman is naked for an extended period of time in Wolverine.
PSA: Peter Bjorn and John are better live than you’d expect. And the name of the band would be better with commas, as Bjorn is a person (with a 70s stash).

Be on the look out for more PSAs curosity of me!

Another work week draws to a close. What did I accomplish this week? Well, the inventory project is nearing completion, as in we are 80% done. This week was the last week for summer student workers and summer classes. That means starting on Monday I have to get up early and be at work at 8am. Boo.
Any other news? Well someone linked to my review of My Super Ex-Girlfriend. I think I enjoyed it because it could be taking in any number of ways, the dark feel bad for the super hero and the holy crap she’s totally nuts and it’s funny. That and I really like bad movies.
I wish that A Scanner Darkly was playing at one of the nicer theaters because I do want to see it, but I don’t like the theater that it’s at. Perhaps I’ll take Toby down tomorrow afternoon to see it, if I can find the $8 to pay for it anyway.

Went to see a bad movie again last night. You know I’m a sucker for bad movies.
Afterward went to Kool Beanz for dinner. It was fancy food and I just wasn’t in the mood for fancy food. I got the lettuce wedge which was true to it’s name and an actual wedge of lettuce. It was good.
Then it was over to Waterworks for some beer. I had a couple. Meegan joined MF Chris, Boyd, & I. Ended up making small talk with some guy named Hector who was pretty cool. Got home and crashed by 12:30am.
Today debating on how much housework I’m really going to do. Gretchen smells like an old woman, so my main goal is to track that shit down.

Hello.
This evening I watched two classic films: The Graduate and Run Ronnie Run. And it was the first time I have seen these movies. Very good.
Nothing new or exciting really happened other than that.

As some of you know I have a weakness for roaming hordes of the Steppes. It all started from a 10 hour Learning Channel documentary on the Mongul Hordes (back when The Learning Channel had such things). Anyway, I was cruising netflix a while back and noticed the tv movie Attila. I’m not one to say no to a bad movie tv or otherwise so I queued it. Well it arrived yesterday. Now, I’m not complaining too much, but….
The Gothic historian Jordanes has left us a striking portrait of Attila. He was a typical Hun: short, broad-chested, with a big head, small deep-set eyes, and flat nose. He was swarthy, almost black-skinned, and wore a sparse beard.
The Empire of the Steppes: a History of Central Asia Rene Groussett
Gerard Butler is really none of those things.
In other news I got a haircut yesterday. Now I’m not totally unkept, just partly.
And I saw Tim Burton’s newest creation. Others have said it to be cute and warm and fuzzy and all those things. I just think it shows more of Burton’s bizarre brilliance. Me, the goth couple, and the slightly smelly Hispanic couple enjoyed it immensely.

Ultra-Fitness Matt sent me the projected path of Rita. Lovely Rita meter maid nothing can come between us. When it gets dark I tow your heart away. Anyway, I noticed that really, you shouldn’t plan anything based on the models and who knows if New Orleans will get rain or not.
In other news I feel like an actual librarian. I’ve helped not one, but three different parties with various library type things. Including laptop checkout and ensuring that the laptop does indeed have the ability to play DVDs (not as simple as you’d think), instructing a nursing student on databases, proper APA citation, search techniques, and a business class with marketing research. How I miss thee Jupiter Research. And just now a lost wallet. No sweaty, stinky guy with chew I do not have your wallet. If I did I might be $20 richer.
And I’m excited about this flick. Hey, I gots to get my Karl Urban fix.

So I caved to the calling of Netflix a couple of months ago. My queue is mighty. 177 titles. Last weekend included such hits as Wet Hot American Summer, Motorcycle Diaries, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?, and Finding Neverland. I’m expecting the superior films Bourne Supremacy, Bourne Identity, The Corporation, and The Aviator later this week. Basically I must watch all of these to try and nudge the stupidity of the Transporter 2 out of my head. Though I enjoy watching Jason Statham at all times the horridness of the rest of the movie was too much to bear.

Question of the day: “Who would serve a nation that is godless and has flipped off, defiantly defied, defiantly flipped off, the Lord their God?”
In watching season three of 24 I find myself cheering for the bad guy. I don’t think he should be doing what he is, but I understand why he is doing it. I think something needs to be done sometimes, but then other times I go…holy crap I pay a little money and I get clean water, indoor plumbing, garbage pickup, roads, and an education system. Is it perfect? No, but hey it’s a place to start.
